Begin the habit of looking at the wall and entering the room ready to begin projects. Find a piece of paper and something to write with.
For the first 7 minutes of class I want you to reflect on this semester of your life. What have you learned? What experiences have changed you for better or worse? Have you learned anything about yourself? Write a short letter to your past self about your experiences. On Friday, you need to have 10-20 minutes of 1 minute gesture drawings. Focus on the proportions of the figure and once you capture the gist, begin adding the muscles and clothes. A gesture captures the basic stance, movement, or feel of a figure. With any time left try some of the other examples of proportions for the figure pinterest board.

Make sure you have your sketchbook and a writing utensil.
In your sketchbooks, write about some of the things we have gone over the past two weeks, think back to the discussion about population and identity and how you are affected. Challenge your way of thinking and explore the thoughts that connect various subjects in your life.
When your thoughts stall out keep writing whatever words come to mind until I begin class. What do you know about this mask and how it fits into your world today? Their are many things happening on the other side of the world that seem to have no effect on us in our daily oblivion, I challenge you to wake up.
How do you react when you are by yourself? As humans we are social creatures, but there are times when we need to be by ourselves-to be alone, but not lonely. For some, solitude equates to isolation and despair, and to other it is a time to reflect and be with your thoughts. Reflect on your alone time.
What does solitude mean to you? Is it isolation or reflection? Do you distract yourself with your gadgets or housework? Do you surround yourself with noise or do you enjoy the sound of the world? How do you embrace solitude or do you push it away? |
