What do you wonder about? Do you have questions about life? How does something work? How is it made? What is this things purpose? Today is the day to ask them. Write your school appropriate, mixed gender appropriate question on the chalkboard and middle of the white board.
In your sketchbooks describe each image or thumbnail sketch them and guess if it is a photograph or a drawing/painting.
Now is the time to reflect. Don't talk or be expected to move (quietly and without attitude :). Continuous writing or drawing is a constant exhaustion of the superficial until true thought or emotions begin to shine through. Don't stop until I start class. Try to write everything, If you get frustrated, show it, if you get tired, switch hands and draw lines while your mind travels to places you didn't know you could go. If your confused just fill up the page with words and or marks. Think about everything. Think about nothing.
Today you are working on continuous line drawings and continuous thought. You don't have to draws anything in particular but you can. The goal to keep you pen moving on the page for the entire time. You can right words, draw something you see, or just controlled continuous doodle.
This image is created using a printmaking method known as etching. In your sketchbooks, mimic some of the line you see. How many different faces can you find in the image. Once your finished work on your value scales and turn in.
